Al Ahli lose Edouard Mendy for AFC Champions League Elite clash with Al Wasl

English Premier League Al Ahli lose Edouard Mendy for AFC Champions League Elite clash with Al Wasl. The Senegal international is absent because of injury as Al Ahli attempt to continue their bid to retain the title for a third successive season.

Al Ahli, who won the previous two editions, began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Uzbekistan's Pakhtakor. Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiya reported that Mendy's absence against Al Wasl has been confirmed.

He is continuing his treatment and rehabilitation programme at the club's headquarters under the supervision of Mubarak Al-Mutawa, head of the medical department. Mendy is expected to be fit for Al Ahli's next Saudi Pro League fixture against Al Nassr, although the report did not specify the nature of his injury.

There was more positive news for the squad, with Brazilian defender Roger Ibanez joining Al Ahli's travelling party in the United Arab Emirates before the match against Al Wasl.
