Ampem Darkoa Ladies thank GFA after CAF Champions League qualification

Ampem Darkoa Ladies have expressed gratitude to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), particularly General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, after a successful appeal paved the way for their qualification for the 2026 CAF Women's Champions League. The Ghanaian champions secured their place in the continental competition after defeating Nigeria's Edo Queens 3-2 in the continuation of the WAFU Zone B qualifying final in Egypt on Thursday.

The qualification followed an appeal led by GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, which resulted in a decision allowing the decisive fixture to resume. Club president Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II praised Addo for his role in the process, describing his contribution as instrumental in helping the club achieve its qualification objective.

"We thank all stakeholders, particularly lawyer Prosper Harrison Addo, who led our petition and subsequently won at the appeal hearing," he said. He also acknowledged GFA President Edwin Kurt Simeon-Okraku for his leadership and encouragement, while extending appreciation to women's football clubs, supporters and Ghanaians for standing behind the team.

The club's qualification marks their second appearance at the CAF Women's Champions League, having previously represented Ghana in 2023. Ampem Darkoa enjoyed an impressive debut campaign, reaching the semi-finals and finishing among Africa's top four women's clubs.

Their latest qualification provides another opportunity to showcase Ghanaian women's club football on the continental stage.
