Arsenal icon leaves Disney+ role after just 2 rounds of Champions League coverage

Alex Scott has left her presenting role with Disney+'s Women's Champions League coverage just two rounds into the European season, with her departure confirmed on Thursday. Reporting says the decision was Scott's and that she intends to focus on other projects.
Scott had fronted Disney+'s coverage since the platform acquired the competition's rights in 2025. This season brought new formats, including a watchalong show, with Scott alternating presenting duties with Shebahn Aherne.
Questions were raised over the style and quality of the coverage, while technical problems also drew complaints from viewers. Arsenal's opening match against HK Koge, for instance, saw a three-minute ad break interrupt the second half.
Scott had already made clear that she did not agree with every decision behind the broadcasts. "I have to turn up and do my job," shesaid.
"Ultimately, do I agree with all the decisions that were made? Yes, but I can only do so much.
Her representatives issued a conciliatory statement after the departure was confirmed. Alex is grateful for the opportunities she has had to work with the team at Disney+ and hopes that they continue to work together in the future," they said.
Scott's main new venture is One More Word WSL, a YouTube show presented alongside former England internationals Anita Asante and Fara Williams. The programme launched this season through Scott's production company, First Cap Productions, and mixes discussion and analysis with contributions from supporters.
Disney+ has a five-year Women's Champions League rights agreement, secured in 2025. The rest of the presenting and punditry team remains in place with coverage due to resume on October 28, when Arsenal will face Benfica at Meadow Park.
