Arsenal return to Champions League winning ways with victory at Slavia Prague

Arsenal returned to winning ways in the Champions League with a 2-1 victory away to Slavia Prague on Wednesday evening. The result, secured in the fourth round of the league phase, moved Arsenal on to 10 points from their opening four matches.
They are third in the table, two points behind Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. Slavia Prague remain on one point and sit 34th in the competition standings.
Noni Madueke gave Arsenal the lead after nine minutes before Viktor Gyokeres doubled their advantage in the 38th minute. Viktor Novak pulled one back for the Czech side in the 90th minute, setting up a tense finish.
Arsenal had been held to a 2-2 draw by Bayern Munich in their previous Champions League match, but they responded with their third victory in the competition. They controlled the first half and deservedly went into the interval two goals ahead.
The visitors dominated for long periods and appeared firmly in command before the break. The pattern of the game changed after half-time, however.
Arsenal, who had looked untroubled in the opening 45 minutes, spent much of the second half under pressure and appeared increasingly vulnerable to surrendering their lead. Slavia Prague's late goal intensified the pressure on the visitors, but Arsenal held on through the closing stages.
The final whistle confirmed an important away victory and ended their wait for another Champions League win. Arsenal now turn their attention back to the Premier League, when they face Hull City on 07 November 2026.
Slavia Prague are scheduled to return to Czech First League action against Artis Brno on 08 November 2026.
