B. C. soccer star named to Team Canada roster for FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup - Haida Gwaii Observer

By Tricia Leslie/Peace Arch News A rising South Surrey soccer star will once again, don a Team Canada jersey and represent her country at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco. Brooklyn Boldt, who has been busy playing with Vancouver Rise Academy, hasplayed for Team Canada before, and she was called up to the Canadian National U-17 team roster to represent Canada at the 4 Nations Cup in Atlanta in August as well, for their international camp and tournament, where Boldt and her teammates played against Chile, Mexico and the U.

"I think this is going to be a really special opportunity. I'm just going to try my best and try and benefit the team the best I can.

A forward/striker, Boldt is known for the goals she gets, whether playing with Team Canada or with Vancouver Rise in the British Columbia Premier League, where she and her team recently won the BCPL championship and were crowned BCPL winners. She is also the Golden Boot award winner for the most goals scored in a single season - Boldt scored 14 goals in 13 games, breaking the previous record of 10 goals, as well as numerous other awards, including being named among the BCPL's top players of the week, a star of the month, and a Vancouver Rise U18 Most Valuable Player nod.

A former Earl Marriott Secondary student, Boldt has committed to play NCAA soccer for the University of Wisconsin Badgers starting in 2027. Winning the Golden Boot and other accolades has been amazing, Boldt said.

One thing I love to do in every game is score as many goals as I can, so I think every single game, I was just driven to do that and also, beat the record for as many goals scored in the league," Boldt said. "Getting the Golden Boot was a really cool experience.

Soccer is a team sport, Boldt emphasized, giving her teammates credit for doing their jobs as well, saying, "I wouldn't be here without all my teammates' and coaches' support." "I mainly focus on just trying to put myself in the best position I can be to receive the ball, or put myself in the best position to try to score goals," she shared. "I read the play and I anticipate where the ball is going to go, and where I need to be to finish those chances, or just be on the ball to create a better chance for my team." Boldt said she relies on her team and teammates on and off the soccer field.

"I enjoy the feeling of being with my team … it's not just an individual sport, it's a team sport. We're all there together … the feeling of succeeding or winning, it makes up for everything," Boldt said, especially if they're celebrating a winning goal.
