Barcelona eyeing cut-price January deal for Man United star

The board at La Liga giants Barcelona are giving consideration to a mid-season swoop for a member of the defensive ranks at struggling Premier League heavyweights Manchester United. This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana have set their sights on a potential deal for Lisandro Martínez.

It is of course common knowledge at this point that those in a position of power at the Camp Nou are on the lookout for reinforcements at the heart of defence this January. Amid the ongoing personnel crisis in Hansi Flick's backline, Deco and co.

As per a report from Diario Sport, owing to his contract situation at Old Trafford (set to expire in 2027 with the option for a further year): 'The winter market could be an opportunity for all parties. United would avoid reaching next summer with a player who would enter the last year of his contract and Barça could incorporate a centre-back with international experience without facing a high investment.

' The 'main obstacle' for Barcelona, though, will be convincing Man United to accept a cut-price fee for their struggling stopper.
