Florian Wirtz took a big step in the right direction on Thursday as he scored his first goal of the season for Germany. All eyes have been on Wirtz during the international break so far, with Liverpool fans hoping that Jurgen Klopp can lift him from the gloom of his underwhelming club form.

The early signs are that Klopp will be able to have a positive impact on the Reds' No. 7, and having seen him score and dominate the game during Germany's 2-0 win over Serbia, Bayern Munich pair Tom Bischof and Serge Gnabry were full of praise for Wirtz.

Where do you stand on Florian Wirtz? Labelled a flop by the media.

🤔 Bayern Munich pair impressed by Wirtz Not only did Wirtz score the Germans' second goal on Thursday, he also played a big part in the first, with his shot off the post falling to Bischof who buried it. The 21-year-old was playing only his second game for the national team, and having been asked about Wirtz while speaking to the press post-game, his delight at playing alongside the Liverpool star was clear.

"He is a brilliant footballer, one that I've been able to experience live with on the pitch for the second time and he just understands football with so much insight," he said. "I believe when he delivers this performance on the pitch he just helps us immensely."
