Bayern Munich players express support for Vincent Kompany, Max Eberl confirms diagnosis

Bayern Munich Board Member for Sport Max Eberl has confirmed that head coach Vincent Kompany was discharged from hospital on Wednesday following his collapse last Friday. Meanwhile, several Bayern players have spoken about the emotional toll of recent events and the solidarity within the squad.

Eberl delivered the encouraging update during an ARD interview ahead of Bayern's 6-1 DFB-Pokal victory over 1. "He was discharged from hospital today," Eberl confirmed.

"I think that's the biggest and best news for all of us." The Bayern executive also disclosed the diagnosis behind the Belgian trainer's hospitalization. "They've found out what it is," Eberl said.

"It's an irritation of the meninges that caused the incident last Friday."

Kompanycollapsed during Bayern's reserve-team training session on October 23and subsequently spent several days in hospital undergoing examinations.

Assistant coach Aaron Danks has assumed responsibility for the first team in his absence. Eberl outlines Kompany's recovery plan Eberl explained that Kompany's immediate recovery would involve rest and medication.

The club will await medical clearance before allowing the head coach to resume his duties. The Bayern executive expressed confidence that Kompany would eventually return at full capacity, although he emphasized that the Belgian would be given the necessary time to recover.

Eberl also stressed that doctors had determined that Kompany's earlier viral illness and hip problems were unrelated to his collapse. "This is a condition that could strike any one of us," Eberl explained.

"This has nothing to do with the pressure associated with the Bundesliga."

Nevertheless, Eberl acknowledged the extraordinary demands of the coaching profession and the intensity with which Kompany approaches his work.

Bayern have previously indicated that their head coach's recovery could take several weeks.
