Big boost for Man Utd with Aston Villa defender Matty Cash suspended for Premier League game at Old Trafford

Manchester United have been handed a big boost with Aston Villa defender Matty Cash suspended for the Premier League clash at Old Trafford next weekend. The Red Devils went winless for the ninth straight game after a 2-0 loss to Chelsea on the road today.

They had a superb opening half at Stamford Bridge, but failed to show up after the interval. United's immediate focus will be on the midweek Champions League match against Roma before they host Unai Emery's side on November 8, the final game before the next international break.

Ahead of that, the club have received an early boost with Cash suspended. The£16 millionsigning was already on four yellow cards for the league season and picked up a fifth booking tonight against Fulham.

This will trigger an automatic suspension next weekend. The 29-year-old has been a pivotal figure from the right-back position for the Midlands outfit, and his absence is undoubtedly a boost for United as they prepare to host the Villans.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was signed to deputise for Cash when required, but the DR Congo star won't be available for next Sunday either, as he continues to recover from a hamstring issue. Hence, Emery has a selection headache ahead of the visit to Old Trafford.

United ran Chelsea ragged in the injury absence of Maxence Lacroix in the first half today, but they simply failed to turn up after the break, which will have frustrated manager Michael Carrick. The Red Devils have been handed another timely advantage with a big void at right-back for Villa, and it remains to be seen whether they can capitalise on that in next weekend's encounter.
