Paris Saint-Germain remain top of the UEFA Champions League standings after Matchday Two, despite suffering a 4-2 defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday night. PSG lead the table with six points and a goal difference of seven, level on points with Barcelona, Aston Villa, Stuttgart, Liverpool, Sporting CP, Arsenal and Real Madrid.
Barcelona occupy second place, also with six points and a goal difference of seven, following their impressive 4-1 victory over Galatasaray on Tuesday. Aston Villa sit third, while Stuttgart are fourth.
Liverpool complete the top five after recording a convincing 6-3 win over LASK on Wednesday. Sporting CP, Arsenal and Real Madrid occupy sixth, seventh and eighth positions respectively, with all three clubs also on six points after winning their opening two matches.
Real Betis are ninth with six points, while Bayern Munich sit 10th with four points following their 3-3 draw against Viking. Shakhtar Donetsk occupy 11th place with four points, while Como and Manchester United are 12th and 13th respectively, with three points each.
Villarreal, Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge follow, while Manchester City sit 17th with three points after losing 4-2 to PSG. Borussia Dortmund, Lens, AEK Athens, RB Leipzig, Sabah, Feyenoord and Bodø/Glimt complete the positions from 18th to 24th, the last places in the table that currently qualify for the knockout round play-offs.
At the bottom of the table, Roma are 25th with one point, followed by PSV, Viking and Fenerbahçe, who also have one point each. Inter, Porto, Slavia Prague, Napoli, LASK, Lille, Galatasaray and Slovan Bratislava occupy positions 29 to 36, with no points after two matches.
Under the new Champions League format, the top eight teams at the end of the league phase advance directly to the round of 16. Teams finishing from ninth to 24th enter the knockout round play-offs, while those placed 25th to 36th are eliminated.
With six points separating the top eight only on goal difference, the next round of fixtures could bring further changes to the standings. Send Us A Press Statement Advertise With Us Contact Us And For More Nigerian News Visit GWG.
