Chelsea are eyeing a move for this Serie A midfielder

In a recentreport, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Chelsea are eyeing a move for Como midfielder Lucas Da Cunha. It has been mentioned that the Blues are showing interest in recruiting the French talent, but would have to compete with Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion in pursuit of him.

Da Cunha's Impressive Form In Serie A Da Cunha has enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club in this campaign so far as he has put in a few impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 25-year-old has made six appearances for Como this season but has failed to score or create a goal for them so far on all fronts.

The French talent is currently among the most gifted central midfielders in Serie A. Thus, it is no wonder that the Blues are in the running to sign him next year.

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2031, which could make it tough for Chelsea to land him on a cut-price deal this January or at the end of this campaign. Da Cunha is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to make the odd interception for his team inside his half.

He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer as well from midfield. However, the French sensation needs to add some goals and assists to his game.

Da Cunha is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if required. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.

Da Cunha would add more quality and depth to Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso's midfield. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge.

At 25, Da Cunha has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Blues to pursue in 2027. Therefore, Alonso would be wise to get him on board this January or next summer.
