Colombe, Berkane and Pirates all hit two goals ahead of CAF Champions League showdown

com-Cameroon Three of the clubs in Colombe Sportive du Dja-et-Lobo's CAF Champions League Group C contenders enjoyed productive weekends in front of goal, with the Cameroonian champions, Morocco's RS Berkane and South Africa's Orlando Pirates each scoring twice in their respective domestic outings. Colombe announced their return to Elite One action in style, defeating PWD Bamenda 2-0 at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium in Yaoundé on Sunday.

Adam Musah opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Kevin Ndzana added a second in stoppage time, as the defending champions began their delayed domestic campaign with an encouraging victory following their continental exploits. In Morocco, RS Berkane also registered two goals in a 2-0 victory over Raja Club Athletic.

Youssef Mehri and Yassine Labhiri were on target, giving the Moroccan side an important domestic result ahead of their African campaign. South Africa's Orlando Pirates completed the trio of two-goal scorers with a 2-1 Soweto Derby victory over Kaizer Chiefs.

Yanela Mbuthuma and Tshepang Moremi found the net to secure bragging rights for the Buccaneers in one of the country's biggest football fixtures. Meanwhile, Tanzania's Simba SC were the only one of Colombe's three group-stage opponents without a weekend result, with their next assignment against Namungo FC scheduled for November 2.

The coincidence of Colombe, Berkane and Pirates all scoring twice offers an interesting talking point as preparations intensify for the CAF Champions League group stage. More importantly for Cameroon, Colombe's victory provides a positive domestic response as Richard Towa's side prepares to measure itself against some of Africa's established continental forces.
