Como match Bayern Munich record with nine-goal Champions League rout of Lens

Como became only the second team in the 21st century to score nine goals in a single Champions League match after overwhelming Lens 9-1 in Wednesday's fourth-round league-phase fixture of the 2026-27 season. The Italian side produced a remarkable attacking display under manager Cesc Fabregas, with Anastasios Douvikas scoring a hat-trick.

Nico Paz, Lucas Da Cunha, Marc-Oliver Kempf, Mattia Liberali, Martin Baturina and Papa Cheikh also found the net for the visitors. Ricardo Aguilar scored Lens' only goal as Como secured one of the biggest victories in the competition's history.

Bayern achievement matched Como's nine-goal haul places them alongside Bayern Munich, who reached the same figure against Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb in September 2024. Bayern won that match 9-2 on 17 September, with Harry Kane scoring four times, including three penalties.

Michael Olise scored twice, while Raphael Guerreiro, Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka each contributed one goal. According to Opta statistics, Bayern were the first team to score nine goals in a single match in Champions League history.

Como have now matched that landmark, although their victory came with a smaller winning margin because Lens scored once. The Italian club's result also equals the highest number of goals scored by one side in a match in the history of Europe's premier club competition since the tournament was renamed the Champions League.

Before the name change, Real Madrid recorded a 9-1 victory over Austrian side Wacker Innsbruck in 1990, the last occasion on which a team had scored nine goals in a European Cup match.
