Drew Pulls Away from Men's Soccer on Senior Day
- The Susquehanna University men's soccer team fell 5-0 to Drew University Saturday afternoon at Sassafras Field on Senior Day. The Rangers opened the scoring in the sixth minute and carried a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Drew extended its lead in the second half, scoring four times to secure the Landmark Conference victory. The River Hawks looked to generate offensive opportunities throughout the contest, finishing with six shots, including two on goal, and earning five corner kicks.
Senior Zak Kreisher led Susquehanna with three shots, putting one on target, while Jack McCarthy added two shots, including one on goal. Goalkeeper Jason Krum recorded five saves in 78:46 of action, helping keep the River Hawks in the contest through the opening stages of the second half.
Saturday's contest also marked Senior Day for six River Hawks: Zak Kreisher, Darin Martin, Cole Kline, Owen Kaar, Parks Ordiway, and Luke Edwin. Susquehanna recognized the six seniors for their contributions to the men's soccer program prior to kickoff.
How It Went Down First Half: Drew opened the scoring at 5:58 when Matt Munoz found the back of the net off an assist from Turkcan Curak. The Rangers carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime as Susquehanna looked to find an equalizer.
Second Half: Drew extended its lead in the 62nd minute as Kevin Martinez scored off a pass from Lucas Czerniak on a corner kick chance. Less than five minutes later, Andrew Dunne added another goal at 65:48, assisted by Munoz, to put the Rangers ahead 3-0.
Late Scoring: Dunne struck again in the 79th minute to record his second goal of the afternoon. Drew capped the scoring at 88:12 when Chris Guerrero found the net off an assist from Carlos Moncion, securing the 5-0 victory.
Inside the Box Score Zak Kreisher paced the River Hawks with three shots, including one on goal. Jack McCarthy recorded two shots, with one finding the target.
Susquehanna earned five corner kicks, matching Drew's total. Jason Krum finished with five saves in goal.
