Fans decide who is Nottingham Forest's most underrated Premier League era player

Nottingham Forest have a very rich history, and although the club has enjoyed success that has unearthed legends, sport is also brilliant at remembering those less valued. Forest broke the record in 2022 for the most players signed following promotion in a single transfer window, and naturally, when it comes to determining an underappreciated star, there are plenty to go at.

When we analyse the club's Premier League history, a host of names stand out for delivering consistent performances without necessarily receiving much of the recognition from the media, pundits and even the supporters. With that in mind, we've decided here at Nottingham Forest News to celebrate some of those underrated players - and asked the fans to have their say too!

Who is the most underrated Forest player of the Premier League era, and why? It could be that they're not the most skilful or the best technically, but largely they're willing to run through a brick wall for the cause.

Nicolas Dominguez is one name that popped up a lot when we asked the fan base for their opinions. The £8 million signing from Bologna arrived in 2023, and although he's not played much this season, he often goes quietly under the radar.

One fan believes Dominguez should be right at the top of the list, and one of the first comments on our TalkingPoints debate was fighting the Argentine's cause: MORE FOREST STORIES Another suggested that he just doesn't seem to have a bad game at all, suggesting Dominguez has been excellent value for money. As well as Dominguez, Neco Williams is another player who gets a lot of love from the current crop, even if he has perhaps been given his flowers more over the last 12 months.

Again, fans believe he's a quality player who goes about his business in an impressive manner, and it's also fair to say that he's been vastly improved over the last year or so. Survival catalysts - Serge Aurier and Chris Wood Forest have circled the drain in three of the four seasons experienced since returning to the Premier League.

As a result, there have been players who have had to stand up to be counted. The first one is Chris Wood.

He's exceeded expectations considerably, and given that he only cost £15 million, he's proved to be worth his weight in gold, scoring 41 times for the Reds. Wood's best days might be behind him but a number of supporters think he should be considered the most underrated player of the Premier League era.

Another modern-day player who gets a lot of love is Serge Aurier. He signed for free shortly after promotion and his form at right-back in 2022/23 was instrumental when it came to the team surviving relegation.
