Gor Mahia keep perfect FKF Premier League start with 1‑0 win over Bandari; Mara Sugar held
News Defending champions Gor Mahia recorded a third straight league victory, beating Bandari 1‑0 at Nyayo, while Mara Sugar were held to a goalless draw by Ulinzi Stars. Gor Mahia extended their unbeaten run to three wins from three fixtures after a 1‑0 triumph over Bandari at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday.
Alpha Onyango broke the deadlock in the 67th minute, delivering the decisive strike that secured the three points for the defending champions. Bandari adopted a cautious, defensive shape in the first half, limiting Gor Mahia's early chances and keeping the score level at halftime.
At the interval, Gor Mahia introduced David Okoth and Patrick Assifuah for Ben Stanley and Denis Omedi, a change that added urgency to their flank attacks. Sylvester Machaka came close to a second goal in the 82nd minute after rounding Bandari's advancing goalkeeper, but his effort failed to find the net.
Bandari, who have yet to register a win after draws with AFC Leopards and 3K FC, remain winless after the loss. In a parallel fixture, Mara Sugar were held to a 0‑0 draw by Ulinzi Stars at St Sebastian Park in Murang'a, leaving them second in the table with five points from three matches.
Ulinzi Stars, who have yet to claim a win after three games, improved after the break and nearly scored in the 68th minute before a defender cleared the ball off the line.
