Harry Kane makes Champions League history in Bayern Munich draw with Arsenal

Harry Kane became the first player to score, provide an assist and take a goal kick in the same Champions League match as Bayern Munich drew 2-2 with Arsenal on Wednesday evening. The Bayern Munich striker scored his side's second goal from the penalty spot and also created their opening goal for Alphonso Davies with a precise through ball.

But Kane's contribution extended beyond his attacking duties. The England international took a goal kick himself during the match, an unusual sight for a forward, and the restart launched a dangerous Bayern attack which came close to producing another goal.

According to Opta, Kane is the first player to register all three actions in one Champions League game since detailed data collection for the competition began in the 2003-04 season. The draw with Arsenal came in the third round of the Champions League league phase, with Bayern Munich maintaining their unbeaten start to the competition.

Kane is also joint-top of the Champions League scoring chart this season with four goals. Manchester City forward Erling Haaland is among the other players to have scored the same number.

Bayern Munich began their campaign with a 5-0 win over Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the opening round. They then drew 3-3 with another Norwegian club, Viking, in the second round before Wednesday's meeting with Arsenal.

Kane's goal against Arsenal was his fourth in the competition this season, while his assist for Davies underlined his wider influence in a match in which Bayern Munich were unable to secure victory despite twice taking the lead.
