Havertz Set Premier League Record After Arsenal's Win Over Liverpool

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has become the highest-scoring German player in Premier League history after netting the winner in Sunday's 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield. The 27-year-old took his tally to 46 Premier League goals, surpassing former Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who previously held the record with 45.

According to CaughtOffside, citing statistics from Opta, Havertz achieved the milestone after just 16 minutes when he converted Declan Rice's delivery to give the Gunners an early advantage. The goal proved decisive as Mikel Arteta's side ended their 14-year wait for a Premier League victory at Anfield, having last won at the ground in September 2012.

Havertz EPL Goals Breakdown Havertz's record-breaking tally includes 19 goals during his spell at Chelsea and 27 since joining Arsenal. It was also his third league goal of the current campaign, underlining his growing importance to Arteta's attacking plans.

The Germany international was handed a starting role ahead of Viktor Gyokeres for the trip to Merseyside and justified his manager's decision with the decisive contribution. Arsenal capitalised on an error from Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, with Rice delivering a low cross for Havertz to finish at the back post.

Despite Liverpool's attempts to find an equaliser, the visitors held firm to secure all three points. The victory lifted Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table, three points clear of Manchester City, who suffered a surprise defeat to Brighton on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Havertz's latest achievement represents another significant moment in his English football career.
