"He wants to win the Champions League" - Jamie Carragher names the perfect manager for Manchester United

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Manchester United should appoint Unai Emery as the next manager. He claims that the Aston Villa manager is the ideal replacement, as he has done everything to earn another chance at the big club.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said Aston Villa staff praise Emery for running the whole club. The Liverpool legend compared it to Sir Alex Ferguson's tenure at Manchester United, adding that it is exactly what the Red Devils need.

The former England defender also believes Emery still dreams of winning the UEFA Champions League and will have a better chance of doing it with the Old Trafford side than with Aston Villa. He said: "He [Unai Emery] is a manager I look at when I think about Manchester United.

People say behind the scenes at Aston Villa, he runs the whole club. Sir Alex Ferguson did that at Man United.

It's not just the United way; it's the way in football generally. I think Emery is the best manager in the Premier League.

But I've got this thing with him. Yes, his record in the Europa League is amazing, but surely somebody who is that successful wants to be known in the Champions League?" "He wants to win the Champions League.

He's not going to do that at Aston Villa. He's had two experiences that haven't gone particularly well for him, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

And I just think surely he would want that opportunity to prove himself at an absolute giant of a football club." (viaMetro) Unai Emery has not been linked with the Old Trafford job, while Brighton & Hove Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler has already said that he wants to stay at his current club.
