'I Play To Enjoy Football, Not Just For Contracts' - Rio Chima Ngumoha Says No Worry For Him At Liverpool

Liverpool of England's Nigerian-born youngster, Rio Chima Ngumoha has brushed aside speculation that he is worried about his immediate future with The Reds, saying he loves playing the game not just for contracts. Sports247 reports that many Liverpool fans are raising eyebrows about the lack of regular playing time for Ngumoha, which has further fueled talk about him leaving Anfield in January.
However, rather than dwell on thoughts about a contract extension with the Merseyside outfit or seek better playing time elsewhere, the product of Chelsea's youth sector insists he is enjoying his time at Anfield. Nonetheless, Liverpool are already reportedly working on a new deal for the 18-year-old lad whose current contract runs until June 2028, but had limited trappings when he signed it in September 2025 after turning 17.
He is now eligible to sign a longer contract after turning 18, but Ngumoha, who became the third youngest player to feature for England when he appeared as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Czechia last month, said he is not bothered by his contract situation. Ngumoha expatiated, "To be fair, that is all with my agent now.
I think it is all going well. I just let the football do the talking at the end of the day.
I enjoy playing and all of that stuff about contracts is in the back of my mind really. I just play for the club and, hopefully, I can carry on doing well.
Because I am still young, the club are just trying to look after me, but we also have some of the best attackers in the world. We all just want to make the team win at the end of the day.
Sports247 gathered further that, as stocks continue rising for Ngumoha, who made his Liverpool debut at age 16, he has caught the eye of their EPL rivals, Arsenal as well as Bayern Munich of Germany, thereby making a new contract crucial for The Reds."
