I tried Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane's football boots - here's what happened

Harry Kane is the fifth Englishman to win the Ballon d'Or. He became the first to do so in 25 years after being awarded the 2026 trophy.

Kane's 2025/26 stats support the England captain's claim to the title. He scored 61 goals in 51 competitive games for Bayern Munich, netted six times at the 2026 World Cup, and often turned provider too - social media feeds have been filled with slow-motion showings of his thread-the-needle assists this season.

But what Kane wore on his feet while achieving these feats might surprise you. He didn't plump for boots from Nike, Adidas, Puma or any of the other big-name brands that dominate the sport.

He was wearing a pair of Skechers. The 33-year-old signed a lifetime deal with the company in August 2023, shortly after swapping the Premier League for the Bundesliga, and has worn its boots ever since.

Given his goalscoring record this season, it's safe to assign his boots Midas status. But what makes them so special?
