Inter post €22.7m profit despite revenue drop after Champions League final windfall

According to Calcio e Finanza, the figure is down from €35.4m the previous year, when the Nerazzurri benefited from reaching the Champions League final and taking part in the expanded Club World Cup. The drop came largely from UEFA television income, which almost halved from €136.8m to €73.8m, and from the €31.4m earned at the Club World Cup not being repeated.

Other revenue jumped to €72.9m, boosted by a €22.3m share of the settlement between Serie A, its clubs and IMG over international TV rights from 2008 to 2018. On the other side of the ledger, operating costs fell 4 per cent to €462.8m.

Staff costs dropped to €239.7m, as lower spending on coaching staff and performance bonuses offset a rise in players' wages from €154.6m to €161m. Net financial costs more than halved to €16.8m following the refinancing of the club's bond, which cushioned the blow from lower revenue.

Inter's consolidated equity returned to positive territory at €10.4m, up from -€12.3m a year earlier. Total debt edged up to €665.4m, including €346.8m in bonds, while cash reserves rose slightly to €120m.
