Iraola Eyes Ferguson, Mourinho Premier League Record Against Crystal Palace

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola could equal an impressive Premier League record held by legendary managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho when the Reds visit Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday. The Spaniard has enjoyed a remarkable unbeaten run away from home in the English top flight, stretching back to his time in charge of Bournemouth.

According to Sports Mole, Iraola has gone 13 consecutive Premier League away matches without defeat in 2026, leaving him just one game away from matching the achievements of Ferguson and Mourinho. Ferguson recorded 14 unbeaten away league matches with Manchester United in 1999, while Mourinho achieved the same feat during his first spell at Chelsea in 2005.

A victory or draw against Palace would therefore see Iraola join the two former Premier League managers on 14 unbeaten away matches in a single calendar year. Iraola Still One Shy Of The All-Time Record However, the Liverpool boss would still be one game short of the outright record held by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose Man United side went 15 consecutive away league matches unbeaten in 2021.

Iraola's remarkable sequence began during his time at Bournemouth, with his last Premier League defeat away from home coming against Brentford in December 2025. He subsequently went nine away matches unbeaten with the Cherries before extending that run following his appointment as Liverpool manager.

Liverpool's Away Record This Season The Reds have also maintained an impressive away record in the Premier League this season, winning three and drawing one of their four matches on the road. After opening their away campaign with a 2-2 draw against Newcastle United, Liverpool recorded successive victories over Ipswich Town, Bournemouth and Brentford.

Nevertheless, Iraola heads into Sunday's encounter under pressure following consecutive defeats against Arsenal and Fenerbahce. Liverpool suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League before losing 3-2 to Fenerbahce in the Champions League.

Those setbacks ended a five-match winning streak and left Iraola facing the possibility of suffering three consecutive defeats across all competitions. Meanwhile, Liverpool will also be hoping to avoid an unwanted Premier League record against Palace.

The Reds lost 2-1 at Selhurst Park in September 2025, with Eddie Nketiah scoring a dramatic 97th-minute winner for the Eagles. The Merseyside club last suffered successive league defeats away to Palace in 1992, before the introduction of the Premier League. Liverpool currently occupy sixth position in the league standings, one point behind Everton and Chelsea.
