Kwasi Sibo makes CAF Champions League debut in Al Swehly's win over Esperance

Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo made his CAF Champions League debut as Libyan side Al Swehly secured a 1-0 victory over Tunisia's Esperance de Tunis in the first leg of their second preliminary round tie. The match was played at the Misurata Stadium on Sunday, with Sibo handed a starting role in midfield after missing Al Swehly's opening-round fixtures.
Ayoub Ayed scored the only goal of the game in the 64th minute to give the Libyan side a narrow advantage ahead of the return leg this weekend. The victory puts Al Swehly in a favourable position as they seek to progress to the group stage of Africa's premier club competition.
Sibo, a former Real Oviedo midfielder, is expected to feature again in the second leg as Al Swehly look to protect their lead and move closer to securing a place in the group phase. Esperance finished the match on a sour note, with Youcef Belaïli shown a straight red card at full-time.
Sibo will also be hoping to build on his club performances as he targets a return to the Ghana squad for next month's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Somalia. The midfielder is aiming to help Al Swehly navigate the remaining qualifying rounds and secure a place among Africa's leading clubs in the Champions League group stage.
