Leone Rock Premier League: Musa Tombo to Debut for Waterloo FC

Former Sierra Leone male national team striker Musa Noah Kamara, popularly known as Musa Tombo, is expected to make his debut for Waterloo FC against Bullom Stars in the 2026/27 Leone Rock Premier League. The forward is expected to feature for the Fry Fish Boys as they begin their first campaign in the country's top-flight league at the Approved School Grounds in Wellington, eastern Freetown.

Waterloo FC have named Kamara as the club's second captain for the season, placing added responsibility on the experienced striker as the newly promoted side prepares for its Premier League campaign. He could be particularly important in the absence of his former Leone Stars teammate and goalkeeper Mohamed Nbalie Kamara.

Tombo is regarded as one of Sierra Leone's most prolific forwards, having won the Premier League Golden Boot on multiple occasions. However, his career has also been marked by controversy, particularly following unsuccessful attempts to establish himself at foreign clubs.

In August 2019, Kamara signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Swedish side Trelleborgs FF but left after about a week. Reports at the time said he had complained about the cold weather in Sweden.

He later withdrew that explanation, saying he did not want to miss the opportunity to represent Sierra Leone in upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Liberia. The club officially described his departure as being for personal reasons.

His move to Libyan side Al-Ittihad Tripoli also ended prematurely in 2022, after he reportedly raised concerns about security and living conditions in the country. Despite those setbacks abroad, Kamara continued to feature prominently in domestic football, representing clubs including Bo Rangers and Ports Authority.

His expected arrival at Waterloo FC offers another opportunity to demonstrate his scoring ability in the Premier League. The Fry Fish Boys will hope his experience and goal-scoring record can help them compete in their first season in the top flight.

Fans will be watching to see whether the striker can lead Waterloo FC's attack and help the club establish itself among Sierra Leone's top-flight sides.
