Luis Enrique sets sights on Champions League hat-trick with PSG

Paris Saint-Germain are looking to win a third consecutive Champions League title. • Last Update: 5 minutes ago•3 min read Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has set his sights on matching Real Madrid's historic achievement of winning three consecutive Champions League titles.
The Spanish coach has already guided PSG to back-to-back European crowns and believes his side are capable of making history once again this season. Real Madrid remain the only club to have won three successive Champions League titles in the modern era, achieving the feat under Zinedine Zidane between 2016 and 2018.
Luis Enrique has now challenged his players to follow in their footsteps, insisting that PSG's recent success has only increased their appetite for more trophies. Speaking to PSG's official website, Luis Enrique outlined his ambition to deliver a third consecutive European title to the French champions.
"We've won it twice in a row, but that's no reason to stop," he said. "We're built to play in the Champions League.
We have an extra incentive: to try and achieve something that only Real Madrid has managed to do so far." PSG have enjoyed an extraordinary period under the former Barcelona manager, who arrived in Paris in July 2023. The 56-year-old has won 13 trophies during his time in charge, including three Ligue 1 titles and two Champions League crowns.
PSG face Manchester City and Barcelona in huge European tests PSG began their latest Champions League campaign with a 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava last month. However, their next two fixtures represent a significant step up in difficulty.
The French champions travel to Manchester City on Wednesday before welcoming Barcelona to Paris on October 20. Both opponents have recent experience of winning Europe's biggest club competition, while the Barcelona fixture will see Luis Enrique face the club he led to Champions League glory in 2015.
"These are two teams that love winning the Champions League, who have already won it and who are among the favourites," Enrique added. "There are six, seven or eight teams capable of winning this Champions League.
We're one of them, but it'll be tough and we're not the clear favorites."
