Manchester City Breaks Silence After Premier League Commission's Verdict

Manchester City have reacted to the latest opinion published by the Premier League Commission concerning the club's long-running financial case. The club said it has a "comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence" to support its position and vowed to continue challenging the case through the appropriate regulatory and legal channels.

"Manchester City FC is both disappointed and surprised by the opinion of the Premier League Commission, that has been published today," the statement read. "The Club is innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League and a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence exists in support of all of its positions, relating to this case.

City also said the Premier League process is still ongoing, with significant parts of the proceedings yet to be completed. The club confirmed that it would now pursue the available appeal avenues, arguing that the Commission's opinion contains what it described as "clear material errors" of law, principle and fact.

Manchester City further questioned the handling of the case, saying it had respected due process for eight years on the expectation that the Premier League Board and Executive would operate as an independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator. The club also suggested that partisan influence should not have played a role in the regulatory process.

However, City said it was limited in what it could disclose publicly while further proceedings remain ongoing. The statement comes as the club prepares to challenge the Commission's opinion through the appeal process.
