Mark Walker's Scottish Football Tips: Rangers to dish out more doom for Dons
Aberdeen are enduring yet another miserable season and it could be about to get even worse on Saturday night when they meet Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final. The Dons fans are in uproar after a truly miserable campaign so far that sees them just three points off the bottom of the league after a round of fixtures.
Manager Stephen Robinson has proved to be an unpopular appointment and Aberdeen have now lost to St Johnstone and Falkirk and draw with Kilmarnock - all at home and failed to score a single goal. They face Rangers at Hampden with only 10,000 tickets sold, which reflects the apathy currently swirling round Pittodrie.
Not only are they in awful form, they have serious defensive issues too with Lewis Mayo out, Dan Happe suspended and arguably their most important player - Mats Knoester - injured too. That should leave a central defensive partnership of Jack Milne and Gavin Molloy and it's hard to see them stopping Rangers' strike duo of Kevin Kelsy and Ryan Naderi.
Rangers are 17/10 to score over 2.5 goals with McBookie. Ayr United vs Queen's Park prediction Ayr United have had something of a mixed season, but they can get back on track by beating struggling Queen's Park at their Somerset Park home.
The Honest Men had an excellent League Cup campaign under new manager Gary Naysmith, but the wheels have come off somewhat after that. They haven't managed to put together a consistent run, but they have achieved an upturn in performances recently.
They beat Queen's Park at Lesser Hampden a month ago and also achieved an impressive win at Livingston. Ayr were quite simply robbed at home to Partick Thistle - who are the best team in the Championship - with a scandalous penalty decision going against them in a 1-0 defeat.
They should be refreshed too after their game at Morton was washed out last week. It's going to be a long, hard season for the Spiders who have lost six of their last seven league games.
The former amateurs look out of their depth this season and look to be heading down if Morton can get their act together. And 4/5 for a home win with McBookie.
com is a perfectly fair price for Ayr. Hearts vs Hibs prediction In the other semi-final, it's hard to see anything other than a Hearts win at 20/21 with McBookie.
