Maroons turn on the style to sink Kataka - Uganda Premier League - Official Website

Maroons produced a commanding display to beat Kataka 4-1 at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Tuesday, extending the visitors' difficult start to life in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. Abel Eturude, Fred Amaku, Darious Ojok and Jackson Nunda scored for the Prison Warders, who climbed to sixth on the log.

Latif Ssenkubuge struck a late consolation for Kataka, who remain winless after seven matches. The hosts took the lead in the 20th minute when Eturude converted from close range after Emmanuel Obua's long throw caused problems in the Kataka defence.

Amaku had failed to make clean contact with the delivery, but the ball fell kindly for Eturude to finish. Maroons maintained the pressure and were rewarded again eight minutes into the second half.

Obua turned provider once more, setting up Amaku to finish low past goalkeeper Solomon Okello in the 53rd minute. Kataka struggled to contain their opponents, and Maroons made the contest increasingly one-sided when substitute Ojok added a third in the 76th minute.

Ojok dispossessed Martin Wambi before slotting the ball through Okello's legs. Nunda, who had come on alongside Ojok in the 70th minute, completed the scoring for Maroons six minutes later.

Set up by Brian Nkuubi, the playmaker curled a left-footed effort into the net off the post in the 82nd minute. The goal took Nunda to three for the campaign, another reminder of the quality he continues to bring to the Maroons side.

Kataka found a late response in stoppage time, with Ssenkubuge converting from Abdulwahab Tumwine's assist in the 91st minute. It did little to change the outcome of a match in which Maroons had established a comfortable advantage.

Obua's contribution at both ends of the decisive attacking moves earned him the Man of the Match award.
