Michael Carrick's future at Man Utd could be determined by Premier League fixtures before the international break

Manchester United have had a dismal start to the Premier League season, picking up only seven points from as many matches. The club are languishing 13th in the table and are already six points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea for the final Champions League spot.

United will be in Champions League action at Como on the road tonight, but the game may not have much of a bearing on manager Michael Carrick's future. The Red Devils are withoutnine first-team starsfor the European game, but at least four could be back in the squad for the league clash against Bournemouth at home.

Leny Yoro (suspension), Lisandro Martinez (thigh), Marcus Rashford (hip) and Ayden Heaven (illness) are likely to be involved versus the Cherries on Sunday. Bournemouth have had a poor start like United after their managerial change, and they have picked up just six points.

Their only win came over the weekend against Sunderland. Hence, United should be the favourites on paper with home advantage, and anything less than a victory against the South Coast outfit would increase the pressure on Carrick.

The hierarchy's stance on his future may not change by the result, but the next set of fixtures before the international break could be a make-or-break for the English tactician. United travel to Chelsea thereafter before hosting Roma (UCL) and Aston Villa in quick succession.

If United's winless league streak does not end by then, Carrick could be dismissed. The 45-year-old is one of the leadingcandidates for the sackat the moment, but things could change quickly in football.

A couple of victories could alleviate the pressure. On a positive note, a victory over Como would be a huge confidence booster heading into the Bournemouth game, where another win could change the entire perception of Carrick's future.
