Morocco's RS Berkane and FUS Rabat Earn Financial Reward for CAF Champions League Progress

Fez•October 26, 2026•2 min read The participation of Moroccan football clubs RS Berkane and FUS Rabat in the group stage of the CAF Champions League has opened new avenues for financial enhancement, thanks to the significant prize money allocated by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the current edition, which can reach up to 6 million USD for the champion team. This financial incentive is crucial for clubs, especially in the context of rising operational costs in professional football.

According to the financial prize schedule established by CAF, both RS Berkane and FUS Rabat have secured a reward of 700,000 USD, designated for teams finishing in the third and fourth positions in the group stage. This amount could potentially increase to 900,000 USD if either team advances to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Furthermore, teams reaching the semi-finals will receive 1.2 million USD, while the runner-up will earn 2 million USD, and the eventual champion will take home the grand prize of 6 million USD. In addition to the CAF prizes, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has also contributed to the financial success of these clubs by allocating 10 million Moroccan Dirhams (approximately 1 million USD) as a reward for clubs that reach the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

This initiative underscores the federation's commitment to supporting Moroccan clubs in their continental endeavors. Conversely, the qualification for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup offers a lower reward of 5 million Dirhams.

Notably, CAF has announced that the draw for the group stage will take place on Wednesday, where the 16 qualified teams will be divided into four groups, featuring some of the continent's top clubs vying for the prestigious African title.
