Newcastle watch Nicolò Tresoldi in the Champions League as Toon target striker

Newcastle United are reportedly among the clubs keeping tabs on Club Brugge forward Nicolò Tresoldi, with the highly rated German youngster attracting attention from across Europe. According to a report from Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, relayed by Sport Witness, Newcastle are among a number of Premier League clubs who sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old striker in Champions League action.
Toon scouts travel to see Tresoldi Everton, Newcastle and Leeds United are reportedly among the English clubs monitoring Tresoldi, who has enjoyed an impressive start to the season in Belgium. The trio had scouts present for Club Brugge's Champions League meeting with RC Lens this week, alongside representatives from European heavyweights Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea.
Arsenal have previously been linked with the 6ft 1 forward, while Barcelona are also said to be interested. Tresoldi has made a flying start to the campaign, scoring nine goals in his opening 13 appearances across all competitions, including a hat-trick in Club Brugge's remarkable 4-3 Champions League victory over Inter Milan.
He joined the Belgian side from Hannover 96 in the summer of 2025 and reportedly contributed to 41 goals in his first 70 appearances, scoring 32 times and providing nine assists. He has also scored 16 goals in 27 appearances for Germany's Under-21s.
Newcastle need more quality in wide areas Newcastle have already invested heavily in their forward line, bringing in Matias Fernández-Pardo during the summer. However, it feels like we are still missing a prolific striker.
Fernández-Pardo offers versatility across the frontline, but it's not clear if he's a natural centre forward, Yoane Wissa is struggling and Nick Woltemade's long term future is in doubt. Tresoldi's record at Club Brugge makes him an intriguing name to monitor.
His goalscoring form could make him an option for the central role, depending on Newcastle's longer-term plans for Will Osula and MFP in that lone striker role. The competition for his signature would be significant, with several established European clubs reportedly watching his progress, but he may be the latest one to watch as we continue to target young talents from Europe.
