Concept Visual Identity: Designer @mazzzzinga created a personal concept project envisioning a Nike-powered Champions League brand identity that reimagines the tournament's star motif using interconnected and curved Nike Swooshes instead of Adidas's traditional 'Starball' design.
Starting with the 2027-28 season, European club football will enter an entirely new era as Nike officially replaces Adidas as the match ball supplier for the UEFA Champions League. With the long-standing Adidas 'Starball' paneldesigntied to the German brand since 2001, the upcoming transition raises major questions about how UEFA and Nike will shape the tournament's visual presence.
Designer@mazzzzingahas stepped in with a fascinating personalconceptproject exploring a bold, Swoosh-powered Champions League brand identity. Nike UEFA Champions League 27-28 Concept Identity This project envisions how Nike could blend its iconic design DNA with European football's most prestigious competition.
Instead of attempting a direct copy of Adidas's star panels, the concept reimagines the Champions League star motif using interconnected and curved Nike Swooshes. Two primary emblem variations take center stage: one featuring sharp, radiating Swooshes that form a five-pointed star, and another where dynamic, interlocking curved blades create a hypnotic pinwheel star.
The concept extends well beyond a standalone logo. Mazzzzinga created mockups demonstrating how the new visual language would look in real-world broadcast environments and stadium rituals, including the famous pre-match center circle banner ceremony.
Set against deep navy, royal blue, and crisp white palettes, the design delivers a sharp, modern aesthetic that feels unmistakably Nike while honoring the majesty of European nights. The designer also explored how this visual theme translates onto a dedicated match ball.
Built around a seamless construction with dynamic star-shaped contours and aggressive graphic lines, the concept hints at the creative possibilities Nike has at its disposal once the multi-year deal begins in 2027. While UEFA's official tournament logo is unlikely to undergo a complete corporate overhaul simply for an equipment supplier change, this concept offers an exciting glimpse into how the Swoosh could inject fresh energy into the Champions League look.
