Pep Guardiola backs Manchester City after Premier League's guilty verdict

City could face heavy sanctions from the league. Wednesday, the Premier League found Manchester City guilty of over 100 offences under the league's financial regulations.

Pep Guardiola posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he is here for Manchester City and their supporters "more than ever," adding, "We will get through this together." Premier League CEO Richard Masters issued a statement on Tuesday, claiming that Manchester City "systematically broke Premier League rules for nearly a decade" by utilising "sham contracts" and "misstated accounts."

Manchester City's alleged infractions happened from the 2009-10 to 2017-18 seasons.

According to the league, they resulted in a financial sheet that was £900 million off, or roughly $1.2 billion. The Premier League accused Manchester City of misrepresenting their finances in order to keep under the league and UEFA expenditure limitations.

Manchester City issued a statement in reaction to the Premier League's decision, stating that the club were "both disappointed and surprised by the opinion of the Premier League Commission."

The statement also said that Manchester City will "now pursue the appeal avenues open to it, on the basis that the opinion contains clear material errors of law, principle and fact, and is unsafe." Manchester City won three Premier League titles during the nine-year period in which the Premier League ruled the club had breached financial regulations.
