Preview: Galatasaray face in-form Barcelona in Champions League clash

Both sides have begun their European campaigns in contrasting fashion, but the intimating atmosphere at the Rams Park Stadyumu could prove crucial for the Turkish outfit. Galatasaray playing catchup already in the Champions League Domestically, Galatasaray are sitting pretty at the top of the Turkish Super Lig having won five of their opening seven matches.
Over the weekend, the capital side defeated Kasimpaşa 3-1, despite playing the final 25 minutes with 10 men. The scores were level until Barış Alper Yılmaz and Mario Lemina netted in the dying moments to seal all three points.
That victory could be vital, especially considering the mighty Barcelona visit the Turkish capital on Tuesday evening. You have to go all the way back to November 1994 for Galatasaray's last win over the Catalan side, losing four of the six subsequent meetings since.
While domestic form has been solid enough, Okan Burak 's men suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Sporting CP in their first Champions League tie of the campaign. Despite taking the lead after just five minutes, the Portuguese outfit netted three goals without reply.
Another defeat on matchday two will make progression to the knockout stages even more difficult. Barcelona are arguably the most in-form team in Europe Nine games.
Barcelona have been utterly ruthless during the opening few weeks of the 2025/26 season under Hansi Flick. Across those nine games, the Spaniards have scored a staggering 39 goals, conceding just eight goals in the process.
How long can this winning streak continue? Who knows, but Flick has his team playing some scintillating football and they are certainly showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Barça have scored 34 goals from 30.5 xG in LaLiga Raphinha and Lamine Yamal have been the star men this term for the club, registering 17 and 15 goal contributions so far. Summer signings Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon have also settled in rather well, while Gabriel Jesus has scored three goals in just five games since joining from Arsenal.
Flick's attacking players are doing the business and on this note, Barcelona are surely one of the favourites to win a first Champions League crown since 2015 come May. Perhaps a tad too early to be labeling Flick's men as the team to beat, but if they can continue this sort of form over the coming months, who can stop them?
