PSG end Barcelona's perfect start with Champions League victory

Paris Saint-Germain ended Barcelona's perfect start to the season with a 4-2 victory at the Parc des Princes, recovering from two equalisers before scoring twice in the final stages. Barcelona had won all 11 of their matches in all competitions, but the reigning Champions League holders underlined their status among Europe's leading sides with a performance combining pressure, attacking quality and late composure.
Desire Doue opened the scoring in the 38th minute after intercepting a pass out from defence and driving into the penalty area before finding the bottom-left corner. The French forward had also impressed in PSG's 4-2 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium the previous week.
PSG had threatened from the start. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia struck the post after Pedri was dispossessed just 79 seconds into the match, while Doue and Ousmane Dembele also tested Joan Garcia.
Barcelona created chances of their own, with Raphinha shooting straight at Matvey Safonov after being found by Anthony Gordon. Garcia twice denied his former Barcelona team-mate Ferran Torres before half-time, while Safonov kept out Fermin Lopez in a one-on-one opportunity.
Barcelona twice recover Barcelona equalised 10 minutes after the interval through 19-year-old full-back Xavi Espart, whose powerful near-post finish beat Safonov. Torres then hit the post following a rapid counter-attack as the visitors began to threaten a second goal.
Instead, PSG regained the lead from a corner. Lucas Hernandez rose above Anthony Gordon to head past Garcia, exposing Barcelona's vulnerability at set pieces.
Lamine Yamal restored parity with a moment of individual skill, turning Warren Zaire-Emery before accelerating into the box and squeezing the ball between Safonov and the near post. Vitinha controlled a clearance on his chest and struck a superb volley into the bottom corner, leaving Garcia no chance.
Five minutes later, Fabian Ruiz completed the scoring by meeting Achraf Hakimi's low cross at the back post. The result ended Barcelona's 11-match winning run and gave them their first defeat of the season.
Barcelona were missing Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen, but still registered a determined attacking display. Their defensive problems were highlighted by PSG's 22 shots and Garcia's 10 saves.
