Roberto Carlos Reveals How He Lost 99% Of Football Fortune

Brazil and Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has revealed that he lost 99 per cent of the money he earned during his playing career following problems involving agents and his family. The former left-back discussed his financial difficulties at the Portugal Football Summit, reflecting on mistakes he made while managing the wealth he accumulated during a successful career.

Because of agents and family issues, I lost 99 per cent of everything I had earned in football," he said. The 2002 World Cup winner also recalled how suddenly he became aware of the extent of his financial situation.

He said he went to bed on a Thursday night before receiving several documents the following day which he had not previously known existed.
