SLIFA FC Seeks Court Order to Rejoin Premier League, Suspend Ongoing Season

SLIFA FC has taken its dispute over exclusion from the Sierra Leone Premier League to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), seeking reinstatement and suspension of the ongoing competition pending a ruling. The Kingtom-based club announced the legal action in a press release dated Oct.

13, 2026, saying it had filed a formal case against the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and Bullom Stars FC over what it described as its unjust and unlawful removal from the league. According to the statement signed by SLIFA FC Chief Executive Officer Benjamin Gordon, the filing followed extensive behind-the-scenes engagements that failed to resolve the dispute.

The club is asking CAS to issue a provisional interim order directing its immediate inclusion in the Sierra Leone Premier League. It is also seeking an order to suspend the ongoing competition until the tribunal hears and determines the case.

SLIFA FC said the action was intended to protect its rights and promote fairness, equity and respect for due process in Sierra Leonean football. The club expressed confidence in the judicial process and urged its supporters to remain calm, law-abiding and united while the case proceeds.

"The matter is now sub judice and no further comment will be made," the statement said. Neither the SLFA nor Bullom Stars FC provided a response in the club's press release.

Their positions on the latest legal action were not included in the statement. The outcome of the case could affect the ongoing Premier League if CAS grants the interim relief sought by SLIFA FC.

However, the club's announcement does not indicate that the tribunal has issued any order or ruled on the merits of the dispute.
