SLPHA FC Management Sets Premier League Title as Target for New Season

Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority Football Club has been given a clear target of winning the 2026-2027 Leone Rock Premier League after a disappointing sixth-place finish last season. The club's executive issued the challenge during a meeting with the technical team on Monday, October 5, to review the team's 2025-2026 campaign and prepare for the new season.

Club Chairman Abubakarr Kamara, Esq., described the session as a frank assessment of the team's previous performance. He called on the technical team and executive to identify the shortcomings that prevented SLPHA FC from competing for the league title.

Kamara said management was dissatisfied with the sixth-place finish, particularly because the team had been in contention to end a 15-year wait for the Premier League trophy. "We did not relegate but the outcome was not as favorable as our expenditure," Kamara told the technical team.

He said the club had received substantial backing from SLPHA management, headed by Director General Yankuba Askia Bio, including the players and other resources requested ahead of the new campaign. Kamara said management would continue supporting the club but expects that investment to translate into success on the field.

"We Management will not relent in our support to the Club but we will equally not accept anything other than winning the Premier League this season," Abubakarr Kamara, Esq. He also urged the technical team to maintain professionalism and strengthen its relationship with the players as preparations continue.

Head Coach Hassan Miller Sesay responded by acknowledging the team's failure to secure the title last season and pledged an improved campaign. "We let the trophy slip away from our hands as we missed it by a whisker.

We have learnt from our mistakes and will do better. This we promise," Sesay told the executive.

Sesay thanked the club's executive and SLPHA Director General Yankuba Askia Bio for their continued support, saying the team is determined to reward that backing with a stronger performance. "This time around, your efforts, time and resources will not go in vain.

The 'Waterfront Boyz' are determined, and so are we technical team," Hassan Miller Sesay assured. SLPHA FC will begin its 2026-2027 Leone Rock Premier League campaign on Sunday, October 11, when it faces East End Lions at the Trade Center.
