Someone needs to pull Niclas Füllkrug off the rest of the Bundesliga

CSmith1919 Chuck Smith is the site manager for Bavarian Football Works, where he began writing in 2017. He is the author of The Daily Schmankerl, the longest-running daily Bayern Munich column in English, and also writes The Weekend Warm-Up.

In addition to covering Bayern Munich news and providing commentary on Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga, and the German national team. He brings more than 30 years of sports-writing experience to the site.

The man went to England and got lost in the shuffle. He went to Italy and couldn't find his way.

Then he came back to Germany and apparently decided the entire Bundesliga owed him money. Niclas Füllkrug is back at Werder Bremen and terrorizing defenders like he has a personal vendetta against every back line in the country.

His 2026/27 season so far: Bundesliga: Eight goals in seven appearances DFB-Pokal: Three goals in two appearances, including today's brace Total: 11 goals across all competitions Scored in four consecutive Bundesliga matches for the first time in his career Rescued a point against Borussia Dortmund with a stoppage-time equalizer Scored a brace against Paderborn to drag Bremen back from a two-goal deficit Scored another brace against Mainz, with both goals coming from the penalty spot in the opening 25 minutes of a 3-2 victory And that Mainz performance? Bremen took him off late to help protect the lead, and Füllkrug was so fired up on the sidelines that he needed a moment before greeting his teammates.

The dude was still ready to fight for another 90 minutes. What about his brace against Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday?

The striker came on in the 58th minute and proceeded to almost knock BVB out of the competition (if not for a late Marcel Sabitzer game-winner). West Ham and AC Milan are somewhere watching in amazement as this man just destroys everyone in his path.

Niclas, brother, we are happy you are home, but the rest of the Bundesliga has families. Fewer ads Createcommunity posts Comment on articles, community posts Rec comments, community posts
