STV Football pundit issues verdict on investors pumping money into Rangers as Celtic now on the back foot

East Kilbride manager Mick Kennedy has spoken positively about the financial situation at Rangers in comparison to Celtic. In his view, Celtic should have been far ahead of their Glasgow rivals during the period when the Light Blues were out of Scotland's top flight.
However, the Hoops failed to make the advantage count and are no longer runaway favourites for the Scottish Premiership title, in his view. Alex Rae expects Rangers to face some difficulties against sides sitting back.
What must Derek McInnes do in order to keep the winning run going? Speaking on the STV Football Show, Kennedy said: "You've got Rangers who have got investors now who want to put their own money into the club and inject cash in.
So I mean it's going to be the next years are going to be really interesting years because I don't think either of them (Rangers or Celtic) are guaranteed to win the league where Celtic were sort of guaranteed the last sort of 10, 12, 13 years. Last November, Rangers released their audited accounts for the year ending June 30, 2025.
The accounts showed that the overall turnover reached a record high of £94.1m, which was a 7 per cent increase year-on-year. MORE RANGERS STORIES However, the club also posted an operating loss of approximately £15.9m for the same financial period.
While it was less than in previous years, it still showed the structural defects behind the scenes. The wage bill was also brought down to £104.9m, which is a good sign, and it remains to be seen how the new owners handle the finances, with the accounts expected to be released next month."
