Tottenham climb to 23rd in global power rankings despite Premier League struggles

Tottenham have climbed one place in Opta's global power rankings, despite their dismal run of form in the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur have fallen short of expectations this season despite a spending spree of nearly £400 million.
Instead of improving, they find themselves worse off than last year's 17th‑place finish, currently sitting 19th in the Premier League table. That poor run has left Spurs winless in their opening six matches, drawing three and losing three, while managing just three goals, the lowest tally in the division.
Yet, somehow, they have managed to move up a spot in the latest club power rankings. Before the start of the campaign, Spurs were ranked the 30th-best team in the world.
After the summer transfer window closed, they moved up six places to 24th. Now, despite their poor form this season, Tottenham have climbed one more spot in the latest rankings and currently sit 23rd.

Several factors could be at play, and it may ultimately come down to the calibre of players at Spurs. During the summer transfer window, Tottenham focused on recruiting Premier League‑proven talent, signing standout performers from clubs such as Newcastle, Brighton, and West Ham United.
If that is the case, it highlights that both the squad and Roberto De Zerbi are underperforming. Being winless in six is far from the form expected of a side ranked 23rd in the world, and De Zerbi must address it quickly if Tottenham are to avoid relegation to the Championship.
