Tottenham end Premier League win drought with 3-1 victory over Coventry

Tottenham Hotspur ended their frustrating wait for a Premier League victory with a 3-1 win over Coventry City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday night. The victory provided a much-needed boost for manager Roberto De Zerbi, whose side had struggled for consistency in the opening weeks of the campaign.
The result lifted Spurs from the bottom of the Premier League table to 16th place, offering renewed hope of a turnaround after a difficult start to the season. James Maddison opened the scoring in the 14th minute, marking his return to the starting line-up with an impressive finish.
The midfielder found space outside the penalty area before curling a superb effort into the far corner following a pass from Mohammed Kudus. Coventry threatened to equalise before half-time but went into the break trailing by a goal.
The visitors returned with greater intensity after the interval and drew level in the 50th minute through Jack Rudoni, who reacted quickest to a scramble inside the Tottenham penalty area before firing home. Tottenham, however, responded eight minutes later when Omar Marmoush restored their lead with a powerful long-range effort in the 58th minute.
The goal was his first for Spurs since joining from Manchester City. Coventry pushed for another equaliser, putting the hosts under pressure as the game approached its conclusion.
Tottenham held firm before substitute Ben Davies sealed the victory with a third goal deep into stoppage time. Another notable moment for the home side was the return of Dejan Kulusevski to competitive action following an extended spell on the sidelines through injury.
The midfielder received a warm reception from the home supporters. The victory ended Tottenham's reported 148-day wait for a Premier League win and offered De Zerbi and his players some relief after their early-season struggles.
Although the performance was not entirely convincing, Spurs showed greater attacking threat, scoring three goals in a match that could provide a platform for improvement in the coming weeks. Tottenham will now turn their attention to their next Premier League fixture against Chelsea away from home, where they will seek to build on the result.
For Coventry, the defeat halted their recent progress and left them just below Tottenham in the league standings. Goalscorers - Tottenham Hotspur: James Maddison (14'), Omar Marmoush (58'), Ben Davies (90+').
