Tottenham target Igor Matanovic eyed by Premier League rivals

Tottenham need to add more depth up front during the upcoming January transfer window. Tottenham Hotspur have struggled to score goals consistently ever since the departure of Harry Kane.

Harry Kane established himself as an elite goalscorer in the Premier League and across Europe, scoring 280 goals for Tottenham before joining Bayern Munich in 2023. Since making the move to Germany, the England international has found the net on 152 occasions in 154 games.

Unsurprisingly, Spurs have struggled to replace Kane. Honestly, they were never going to be able to do so easily.

The N17 chiefs felt Dominic Solanke was that man, spending £65m to sign him from Bournemouth in 2024. However, Solanke has struggled to live up to his price tag.

The 28-year-old scored 16 times during his debut season with Tottenham but struggled with form and fitness last time out, scoring only thrice in the Premier League. Roberto De Zerbi did his best to bring in Omar Marmoush on loan from Manchester City in the summer.

Well, considering that Marmoush is yet to break his duck in Tottenham colours, the Hotspur Way chiefs have already started scouring potential No. 9 options ahead of the winter transfer window.

Dominic Solanke sealed the victory for Spurs Tottenham-linked Bundesliga striker wanted by Premier League rivals It comes as no surprise that Tottenham are being linked with several strikers for the upcoming transfer window. Recent reports claim that the North Londoners are closely monitoring Freiburg striker Igor Matanovic.

Igor Matanovic has been the focal point of Freiburg's attack following his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt last year. He scored 15 goals in his debut season with Freiburg, earning a place in Croatia's 2026 World Cup squad.

It seems as though the talented centre-forward is developing rapidly under Julian Schuster. The1.94m, 23-year-old has begun the 2026/27 campaign very well withsix goals in seven appearances in all competitions.
