Uganda Premier League Returns: What to Expect as Matchday 5 Takes Center Stage - Uganda Premier League - Official Website

Following a three-week hiatus for an extended international window, the 2026/27 StarTimes Uganda Premier League returns to action this week. The league paused after an opening four matchdays to allow the Uganda Cranes to feature in two crucial AFCON Pamoja 2027 qualifiers-securing a 1-1 draw against Tunisia and a 1-0 victory over Libya at the Hoima City Stadium-followed by back-to-back friendlies against the DR Congo in South Africa.

With the international break wrapped up, domestic football takes back the spotlight with highly anticipated Matchday 5 fixtures. The action kicks off on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, as record champions SC Villa look to build on their recent 3-0 victory over Kigezi HomeBoyz.

The Jogoos travel east to face top-tier debutants Kataka FC at the BCS Complex in Bukedea. Kataka are among five teams still searching for their first win of the campaign, having narrowly lost 1-0 to KCCA FC despite a resilient performance just before the break.

Three other fixtures headline Wednesday's schedule. Kitara FC will target their first win of the season when they host Kigezi HomeBoyz at the Hoima City Stadium.

Elsewhere, Maroons FC welcome Lugazi FC to the Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku, while Mbarara City travel to face Ntugasaze at the Police Arena on Kira Road. On Thursday, October 8, 2026, defending champions Vipers SC face a stern test on the road against a high-flying Blacks Power FC side.

Returning to the top flight in spectacular fashion, Blacks Power have claimed three victories in their opening four matches and will host the champions at the Hoima City Stadium. Meanwhile, NEC FC and Express FC renew their rivalry at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, and a perfect BUL FC side visits UPDF FC at the Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.

The matchday concludes on Friday, October 9, 2026, with an exciting double-header at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. The early kickoff features Entebbe UPPC taking on Police FC at 5:00 PM.

This will pave the way for the weekend's marquee fixture at 8:00 PM, where four-time league champions URA FC host KCCA FC in what promises to be a thrilling tactical showdown under the floodlights.
