Villarreal looking to bounce back from heavy Champions League defeat against Getafe, Nathan Saliba returns

Villarreal and Getafe both lost in European competition midweek, but it's the Yellow Submarine who will be especially keen to get back into the win column. Canadian pair Tajon Buchanan and Tani Oluwaseyi both saw the pitch midweek as Villarreal were smashed 6-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday, two days before Getafe fell 1-0 in Conference League play to Promise David's Brighton & Hove Albion.
Both sides were underdogs in their respective games, but the way Villarreal lost their match was especially frustrating for head coach Iñigo Pérez. "When you suffer a defeat like the one we experienced the other day, and it comes after another loss against Espanyol, the levels of excitement and enthusiasm naturally decrease," he said in his pregame press conference.
"As the hours pass, those feelings begin to recover, but it's true that we've needed the group environment, meetings and conversations to remind ourselves that, for better or worse, football quickly gives you another opportunity. You can put things into perspective knowing you've lost a match, in this case in the Champions League, but you can still achieve your objective.
That's the kind of message we have to keep reinforcing and I believe it's the right one, while understanding that going through that period of disappointment is necessary and cannot be avoided." Getafe won their last game in LaLiga, beating Sevilla 3-1, but sit 15th in the league still - four spots back of Villarreal. Both teams will want to start making a move up the table, especially a Villarreal side who finished third last season but remain well back of a repeat of that success.
Villarreal could get a boost to their lineup with the return of their third Canadian, Nathan Saliba. Their summer signing from Anderlecht has missed the last few games with a muscle injury but is set to return in some capacity against Getafe.
The hope was that he could return to the squad midweek after rejoining training, but did not end up featuring against PSG.
