Volleyball: Navy Spikers, NSCDC lock horns in 2026 CGC Premier League

Spread the word The race for honours in the 2026 Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) National Volleyball Premier League will enter its decisive stage on October 16, with defending men's champions CNS Spikers facing NSCDC in one of the opening fixtures at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. The final phase promises a keen contest, particularly in the men's division where Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) finished the opening phase with a perfect record and will now attempt to convert that dominance into the championship after falling short last season.
The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has listed October 16 to 29 for the decisive phase of the competition. Customs set the pace NCS emerged as the dominant side from the first phase, finishing top of the men's standings with 36 points from 12 matches after winning every game.
Blueprint reports The Customs side also demonstrated remarkable efficiency throughout the opening phase, dropping only two sets across its 12 matches. Its final outing ended with a 3-0 victory over COAS Spikers, underlining the consistency that has made the team one of the leading contenders for the title.
NCS will open the final phase against Ajase Ipo, knowing that the pressure will be significantly greater now that the other leading teams have had an opportunity to assess its strengths. The Customs side will also be motivated by its victory over defending champions CNS Spikers during the first phase.
NCS recovered from losing the opening set to win the encounter 3-1, taking the remaining three sets 25-21, 25-22 and 25-15. That result has added further intrigue to the title race, with CNS now needing to overcome the team that finished comfortably ahead of them in the opening phase.
CNS begin title defence against NSCDC CNS Spikers, meanwhile, will begin their bid to retain the men's title against NSCDC. The champions finished third in the first phase with 28 points, behind Customs and COAS Spikers, but their campaign showed that they remain capable of competing with the strongest teams in the league.
CNS survived a major early test on the opening day when they defeated a much-improved Defence Spikers side 3-2 in a five-set thriller. After losing the first set, the champions fought back and eventually prevailed 17-15 in the deciding set.
They also produced a strong run during the phase, including a 3-0 victory over Sunshine Spikers and a 3-0 win over Offa VC. However, their 3-1 defeat to Customs in the final round exposed the gap they must close if they are to retain their crown.
Their meeting with NSCDC therefore provides an immediate test of whether the defending champions have regrouped sufficiently for another title push. COAS, NCoS and Offa in the mix COAS Spikers finished the first phase second with 29 points and will face Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) when the final phase begins.
