WATCH: Canada's Tani Oluwaseyi scores powerful goal for Villarreal in Champions League win over Napoli

It's Tani Time in Spain once again. Canada striker Tani Oluwaseyi scored the third Villarreal goal in a 3-1 Champions League win over Napoli on Tuesday.

After being held winless in the 2025/26 Champions League, andlosing their opening match to Borussia Dortmundthis time around, Villarreal wanted to make a statement against the Italian club. They did, scoring twice in four minutes to erase an early deficit, before Oluwaseyi's goal locked up three big points.

Oluwaseyi came off the bench in the 63rd minute to try and increase the Spanish side's 2-1 lead, and that's exactly what he lived up to. The Canadian blasted a powerful shot into the roof of the net from a couple of steps into the penalty box, and Vanja Milinković-Savić couldn't react quick enough to do anything about it.

It's Oluwaseyi's first goal of the new season in all competitions, and third of his Champions League career after netting against Ajax and FC Copenhagen last season. The Yellow Submarine were without Canadian winger Tajon Buchanan, who suffered a hamstring injury on Canada duty earlier this month.

Buchanan did not train with the team on the eve of the game, nor did Nicolas Pepe after he underwent an eye surgery. Both playersmissed this past weekend's narrow defeat to Real Madridas a result.

Nathan Saliba started Tuesday's match and went the full 90 after having his hair pulled by fellow substitute Vinicius Jr. in Madrid, while Oluwaseyi came off the bench this time after being an unused substitute over the weekend.

The hosts were stunned when Amir Rrahmani put the ball into the back of the net eight minutes in from a corner kick. The Kosovan defender's initial header was saved by Luíz Júnior, but the rebound fell right at the feet of Rrahmani, who put it into the bottom-right corner to open the scoring.

Napoli kept the pressure up but couldn't hold on for long, giving up two impressive goals to Villarreal within a couple of minutes of each other. Georges Mikautadze sprinted to intercept a poor backpass from Matteo Politano in the 23rd minute, rounding the goalkeeper before slotting the ball into the open net from a very tight angle along the goal line.

Not even four minutes later Santiago Mouriño scored what turned out to be the game-winner with a long-distance shot that Milinković-Savić again could do nothing about. It was a poor night at the office for the Serbian goalkeeper, but the quality of Villarreal's goals is worthy of praise as well.
