Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw were two of the biggest names missing from Manchester United's teamsheet during their second-round league phase clash in the UEFA Champions League 2026-27 at Estadio Metropolitano on Tuesday night. United head coach Michael Carrick was handed fresh injury setbacks ahead of the crucial continental clash against Los Rojiblancos.

The visitors were without six senior players, including Mainoo and Shaw. In their absence, Carrick was forced to shuffle his depleted squad.

Diogo Dalot was shifted to the left-back position, while Leny Yoro kept his place at right-back after impressing against Tottenham Hotspur. In midfield, Carlos Baleba made his first United start alongside Youri Tielemans.
