WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS 1-0 HEARTBREAKER AT GREEN BAY

- The IU Indianapolis women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 nailbiter on the road at Green Bay on Saturday (Oct. 10), allowing the game's only score just more than nine minutes into the contest.
The Jaguars (4-8-2, 2-4 HL) knocked on the door against the Horizon League's top defense, but were unable to scratch despite a 13-12 shot advantage. Green Bay (9-1-3, 4-1-1 HL) took the early lead when Rebecca Stoeckmann headed home an Aixa Helbringer-Escobar corner kick inside the far post for her second score of the year.
Green Bay dominated possession for much of the first half as the Jaguars were faced with a wall of wind that made escaping their end of the field tougher than usual. The Jaguars' best scoring opportunities came as the speedy Keilah Muldrow got in behind the Green Bay defense, but she redirected wide of target in the 16th minute and was stopped by Phoenix goalkeeper Anna Scott in the 23rd minute.
The Jaguars had the wind at their back for the second half and held the ball in the attacking half more frequently. The attacking opportunities got better as the game wore on as junior Bethany Hartigan had a shot stonewalled from the doorstep in the 77th minute.
Senior Caroline Kelley had an attempt said wide in the 81st minute and rookie Addison Stover hit a rocket off the crossbar in the 88th minute. IU Indy's final opportunity came in the 88th minute when Kelley flicked a ball ahead to Muldrow, who was pinched off by a pair of Phoenix defenders on way to goal.
However, the Green Bay keeper was unable to secure the ball as Muldrow and Maci Sammons were scrambling to make a play. However, Muldrow was discarded by the Green Bay keeper, resulting in a video review.
After a length look and discussion, no foul was issued and the Jaguars ultimately ran out of time. Muldrow had a team-high three shots for the Jaguars, who also finished with a 7-4 gap in shots on goal.
Sophomore Isabel Oferosky closed with three saves in the defeat. IU Indy will return home to host Oakland at 5:00 p.
